Revolutionising Water Quality Monitoring For Ecological Health

At OMB, we are pioneering the translation of decades of groundbreaking research from the University of Oxford into innovative tools that serve a wide range of industries. Over the past seven years, we have been developing a unique methodology that links water quality to ecological health, enabling companies who own or operate wastewater treatment facilities to measure, model, and predict their impact on ecological health.

Our cutting-edge biosensors and advanced water quality modelling tools not only address current challenges but also anticipate future impacts in the context of technological advancements and climate change, fostering a deeper understanding of water quality from an ecological perspective.

“OMB - a leading light in water quality”

- Advanced Oxford

We have engineered naturally occurring soil bacteria to produce easily-measurable light in response to their environment. We apply these biosensors to water samples globally, from river water in Bangladesh through to lake water in Ethiopia and petrochemical wastewater in China. Through decades of studying the dynamics of these responses we are now at the most exciting phase of our journey.

We are building a future where water quality is not just measured but understood from a nature perspective. Our engineered molecular biosensors are designed to transform the way we monitor and safeguard the health of our rivers, lakes and oceans. Our biosensors and water quality modelling tools provide unparalleled insights into the intricate dynamics of water quality and ecological well-being.

Discover Water Quality From A Unique Biological Perspective

We have given nature the tools to tell us directly

Improve pollution detection

Through expensive and laborious chemical analysis you may be able to obtain a non-exhaustive list of many of the chemicals within a complex mixture of water, but you are unable to predict how this mixture impacts ecosystems. Our cutting-edge technology is based on environmentally occurring bacteria, and is able to bridge the gap between water quality and its impacts on microbes and macroinvertebrates. This offers a unique biological perspective and providing valuable information for responsible waste management in a number of industries and environmental bodies worldwide.

We are at a pivotal point in our journey and are now engaging strategic partners; If you recognise the immense potential of understanding water from a biological perspective and its impact on global markets, we invite you to contact us below.

Our Technology

In light of the issues facing the water industry today, we are offering a range of products and services based around whole-cell biosensor technology; sensing cells able to detect toxicity, heavy metals, antibiotics and many more pollutants with greater sensitivity than ever before. In parallel we are developing a portable device which will enable our customers to use the biosensors on site and in remote locations, with data relayed wirelessly. Currently we offer lab-based services for numerous industries; detecting environmental and industrial pollution, identifying degradation pinch-points, toxicity at both a cellular and genetic level, as well as data analysis and consultation for contamination remediation strategies.
